In the article "Great White Shark Attacks: Defanging the Myths" The National Geographic Channel states that there is good and bad news regarding great white shark attacks where the good news is that sharks generally do not like to eat people but the bad news is that sharks are animals that are curious that want to explore and go taste on unfamiliar objects that catch their eye. They help support this by giving stats about there being 108 unprovoked shark attacks where only eight of those were fatal. They are trying to inform the reader that being attacked by a sharks is very rare to happen. the intended audience are people who are visiting the ocean some point in their life.
