Dana E Mastro talks about how Latinos are the ethnic minority that makes up 12.5 percent of the US. She talks about how people use derogatory terms to describe Latinos about their race and their self esteem. This allows Latinos to make the retaliation and call Whites' and other races that may possibly be racist names so that they can get the feeling that Latinos are being exposed to. Even tho Latinos make up the biggest percent of the US, they only make up 3-4 percent of characters on prime time television. She states that this has been going on for about five decades.

In her article, Exposure to Television Portrayals of Latinos" The Implications of Aversive Racism and Social Identity Theory" Dana E. Mastro attempts to show that racism about Latinos should not be exposed to the media due to the fact that Latinos are the ethnic minority in the Inited States that makes up 12.5 percent of the population. She plans on lowering the racism aspect of television by showing the emotional side of things. She supports this by showing statistics about all races in the US. Her intended audience are young readers who have friends or relatives who are being racist in any way.

Thesis

When you hear racial comments on television what do you think? Well when I here racist comments on television I get fired up because I have been in a situation where racism has almost made me do something that could have gone bad. The world would be such a better place if racism was not around. After all the United states is a "melting pot." The United states is made up of ethnic groups from all around the world. For example, Latinos are the largest ethnic minority in the world which makes up 12.5 percent of the population.

In his book, “The Effects of Racism and Racial Discrimination on Minority Business Development: The Case of Black Manufactures in Chicago’s Ethnic Beauty Aids Industry, Robert Mark Silverman tends to show the structure of black’s businesses and how they are ran. The business that he talks about in his book is about Chicago’s ethnic beauty aids industry. He says about the ways the business is shaped due to racism and racial discrimination in the mainstream society. Silverman says,” On balance, there is little documentation of the historical development of large-scale black manufactures enterprises. The lack of such an analysis severely limits our understanding of the relationship between business development in the black community and institutions in mainstream society.” He starts giving facts about the past around the 1990s. He states how it formed earlier than in present times such as the Great Depression as well as the Civil rights Movement. He gives the history of when whites took away land from the blacks which made them angry and allowed then to shape their businesses the way that they did. He also focuses on black entrepreneurship as well as black manufactures. Silverman says, “In the past, many scholars considered large-scale black-owned enterprises anomalies, and they characterized the black business community as being dominated be a number of small, relatively marginal, enterprises.”

Currie, Cheryl L. “Animal Cruelty by Children Exposed to Domestic Violence.” Child Abuse and Neglect 30 (2006): 425-435. Print In the article “Animal Cruelty by Children Exposed to Domestic Violence” by Cheryl L Curie, she determines whether if children exposed to domestic violence were significantly more likely to be cruel to animals than children exposed to violence. She supports her claim by using stats and comparing mothers that exposed their children to violence to mothers that did not expose their children to violence. Her purpose is to show mothers that they hold the key to stopping animal abuse by first starting and fixing their parent skills. The intended audience of this article is mothers who need to change. Merz-Perez, Linda., and Heide, Kathleen M. “Animal cruelty: Pathway to Violence against People.” Altamira Press (2004) In the book “Pathway to violence against People” by Linda Merz-Perez and Kathleen M. Heide, they tend to show that children are just like older men in prison that do the same thing when reach the age. They show their point by stating cases about children abusing animals. This is their main focus and their purpose is to show people that not everyone has to be cruel to animals, that they should be gentle animal lovers. The intended audience is people who have been abusing animals and need to stop. Wax, Douglas E. “Enuresis, Fire Setting, and Animal Cruelty.” Child Psychiatry and Human Development 4.3 Spring 1974 152-156. introduction

What percent of the United States are animal lovers? There have been many incidents were animals are used to fight in order to get money. How human like is that? What people do not understand is that animals are living creatures as well and have feelings just like humans do. Where does the thought come from to be cruel to animals? I am a high believer of seeing is doing. This means that not just any random person is going to do something just to do it, chances are people are getting exposed to abusing animals from their parents or even friends. As time goes by, this gets passed on from generation to generation. I tend to prove that animal cruelty is a problem by using logos, pathos, ethos.

Animal Cruelty

What percent of the United States are animal lovers? There have been many incidents were animals are used to fight in order to get money. How human like is that? What people do not understand is that animals are living creatures as well and have feelings just like humans do. Where does the thought come from to be cruelty to animals? I am a high believer of seeing is doing. This means that not just any random person is going to do something just to do it, chances are people are getting exposed to abusing animals from their parents or even friends. As time goes by, this gets passed on from generation to generation. Abusing animals is something that younger children or adolescence tend to do. In doing this, many of their actions lead them into committing crimes when reaching the adult stage of their lives. Two thirds of the people reported the animal cruelty is a way to make the time go faster by just having fun with it. Where one fifth of the people do it out of anger, aggression, or even imitation. This greatly affects people such as real animal lovers, veterinarians (people who went to school for a long period of time just to help out animals that have been in these situations), and finally, it affects the animal itself. There have been people who have tried to prevent the entire animal abuse that has been going on which happens to be the government. The government has made laws in order to protect the animals being abused, but they are not strictly enforced like they should be. The reason for this is because if they were then no animal would get being tortured at this time. If the problem is not stopped in the future then the animal abuse that people are doing will get passed down from generation to generation and will continue to happen until someone steps up and fights against the animal cruelty! In my eyes, someone should go out and do something about all of the animal abuse that is going on not only in the United States but also other countries all over the world. The reason I believe this is because what if some people forced people to fight one another just for the fun of it. If people threatened to kill someone just to get the kicks out of them fighting just for fun. It is the same concept with humans as it is with animals. This does not just go for the fighting, it is also considered cruelty if the owner does not feed the animal they are supposed to be taking care of. Abusing an animal is a crime that people are meant to get punished for. The bad thing is that animals cannot even defend themselves. So how cruel is that? At least with humans, if they were getting abused they have the chance to go tell the police or even defend themselves where as the animal cannot go to an animal cop to help them from getting abused. That is a totally unfair situation where many animals caretakers should be considering before they do something that might sent them to jail or even prison.

relation between two articles and radio station

The scholarly article about misconduct relates to the other article as well as the sampling that came on the radio station because they all talk about something that can be seen as illegal.  As in all three of the articles, not everyone thinks they are illegal.  there are some people that believe it is okay because it may "bring a new song" or "it helps people learn"  but i believe that all of the people who believe that it is not illegal, are wrong.  in all three articles dishonesty and stealing are huge factors in all three of the articles.  If you steal other people's work, you are going to continue to steal throughout your lifetime.  same goes for the stealing of the music. once you steal music, you will continue to steal it to make new songs and have new beats.  so being illegal is the reason why all three articles relate in my eyes.  there is nothing right about these three articles.

plagiarims and sampling

the radio station that was aired talked about a term called sampling meaning that people take bits and pieces of songs in order to make their music. an example that they gave was the beat. some artist took the beat of one song and put it with another beat from another song to for their song. a topic that came up big was if sampling is illegal. many believe that it shoudnt and is not illegal. Many also belive that artist should be punished and sued for stealing other artists music. it was said that the artist arent the ones that get the credit for the music, the companies that are associated with the artist get all the credit. In the article, it is stated that every year more and more students are plagiaring. there are so many topics online that any student can pick anything and use it for a report or paper that they are writing. whatever is available online is easy access to students for help. many students do cite their references which is the way to not be accused of plagiarism, where others are getting more and more lazy and dont take the extra step in citing. this is a major problem in present times. many fear that plagiarism is never going to end and will continue to grow.

Patriots Have no shot against the Giants! Just Ask Them

I chose this blog because I am a die hard sports fan.  I lived by sports all my life, and as for what the title of this blog says, it is absolutely true.  In my eyes, the ravens deserved the AFC championship.  They played harder than the patriots did.  As for the coach saying that they played their hearts out, I think that is false.  The ravens are the team that played there hearts out that ended with a mistake by the field goal kicker.  I believe that the outcome of this game will show the ravens on top!
